Message from The Principal

We, at Hinduja, strive to achieve Quality in Education while ensuring overall development of the students.

We also recognize the importance of providing a supportive and stimulative learning environment using innovative teaching & learning strategies and technological advances. At this juncture, we fondly remember Mrs. Lalita Girdhar Hinduja, who was the visionary behind Nursing at P. D. Hinduja Hospital and more specifically, School of Nursing.

Nursing occupies the largest bulk of the healthcare force. Healthcare industry is transforming day by day. The demands on professional nurses are becoming higher and higher, specially to maintain quality of care amidst the never-ending staff shortage.

Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems. The professional nurse provides holistic care with compassion, empathy and respect for client's dignity while educating them to achieve maximum level of health. She also participates in the activities contributing to prevention of illness and promotion of health.

Therefore, it is necessary to educate the nurse in the context of sound educational principles. As a Science, Nursing is based on scientific knowledge which is expanding and ever-changing and diversifying into specialty areas. The opportunities for a nurse are varied and limitless. A new professional nurse may choose between clinical practice and education. Research, management, administration, occupational and industrial Nursing are areas which she can venture on later. The horizon has expanded widely abroad not ignoring the demands "at home".

There are opportunities for them to become independent Clinical Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse specialist. Nurse's role in future will undergo rapid changes especially in the corporatized health care industry. They will become career information navigators, interpreters of health-related matters, decision-making facilitators, managers, customer custodians, patients empowerers, critical thinkers, and info mediators who will guide patients apart from being the traditional care givers. In tune with specialization in medical science, Nursing education has moved further to specialty such as Cardiovascular Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Oncology Nursing etc to mention a few.

The Board of Management of P.D. Hinduja National Hospital & MRC is committed to improvement of standard of Nursing education and hence the School of Nursing was upgraded to College of Nursing under Maharashtra University Health Sciences, Nashik with approval by Central Council ((INC) and State Council (MNC) in the year 2006.

College has trained 255 undergraduates and 108 Post graduates while the GNM graduates are 485. They are spread all over the world. Most of them are members of the Alumni Association of college. The College of Nursing runs undergraduate, Post graduate and Ph.D. programs of Nursing under Maharashtra University Health Sciences, Nashik. College acknowledges meritorious students and provides opportunities for financial assistance by way of scholarship and freeship.

Keeping in line with our philosophy, the College of Nursing has been accredited with an NAAC – A grade. as an independent institution. We, at Hinduja, strive to achieve Quality in education while ensuring overall development of the students. We also recognize the importance of providing a supportive and stimulative learning environment using innovative teaching & learning strategies and technological advances.
